Frequently Asked Questions
Do you travel across the UK?
I mostly shoot weddings in The Cotswolds, London and other home counties but I am more than happy to travel across the UK with enough notice. I just charge £150 extra for travel if it’s more than 1.5 hours away from home as I’ll need to stay at least one night nearby.
Is it the same cost for weekends and weekdays?
I love shooting weddings during the week and I offer a reduction of £200 for a weekday wedding! Good news….
Do you need feeding during the wedding?
I don’t - I’m really happy to bring a sandwich and a snack with me. The only time I might ask is if speeches are in the middle of the meal or if the venue is really remote.
Do you have recommendations for suppliers / designers etc?
Yes of course, please see my page Things I like
How will I receive my images?
Via a beautiful platform called Pic-time. It’s an on-line gallery which allows you to download your images and also order beautiful photo books / prints among other things. Some of my packages include a few prints too.
Do you charge family and friends for images
Absolutely not - you can share the link and they too can download images as they wish. The copyright and ownership of the images remains with me however….
Do you offer black and white photography?
In all honestly I probably offer more black and white images than your average wedding photographer. I just love them and they tend to work well with my photography style, and also the couples that are attracted to my work. That said, I would say the majority of the images that you will receive will be in colour but a good chunk will be black and white as well. So in a nutshell, if you don’t like black and white photography I may not be the one for you.
How do I print my images afterwards?
Pic-Time, the platform I use to share your images with you, also links you to some of the UK’s finest printers and photo album makers so you can easily select the ones you want and order. It’s very simple.
What equipment do you use?
I have three digital Canon cameras; an R6 (brand new), a Canon 5d MK 4 and a Canon 6D (as a third back up). I also work with professional prime lenses (a 35mm, 85mm and 135mm).
What happens if there’s an emergency / illness and you can’t shoot our wedding?
Unfortunately this can happen. In this situation I will do everything I can to find a replacement photographer for you. Luckily I’m connected to a wonderful network of female photographers across the country and this is a brilliant resource in an emergency. I will do everything in my power to find someone similar and give you as much notice as possible. If this is not possible you will most certainly receive a full refund.
When does the day start and end for you?
I normally start around the time of bridal prep and stay until the first dance, or just after. I am more than happy to stay a little later but this will be a small additional charge. Just email me to discuss this.
Do you do large group / family photos?
I wouldn’t say this is my expertise or style and I definitely am not the sort of person or photographer that will ask for big lists and create precise group family photos. However, if you’re looking for a few group photos of you guys and your closest family and bridal party I am more than happy to do this as it’s always lovely to have these for older members of the family. I would keep them to a minimum though.
If this is a big and important part of your day, in all honestly I probably am not the right photographer for you.
When would I receive my images?
Editing weddings is a time consuming job and therefore it can take 8-12 weeks to receive your images, although I aim to be much quicker.
Would you recommend a second photographer?
Absolutely! It’s such good value and really makes the most of the day. I recommend this for nearly all scenarios apart from really short micro weddings. It just adds so much more depth snd variety to your gallery and means someone can be snapping away while you have your couple shots. Prices normally start around £200 for the day and everything will be edited by me so your gallery looking beautifully consistent.
How many weddings do you shoot per year?
Not that many compared to many wedding photographers as I honestly do it for fun, I have recently started, and I really don’t want to feel jaded and exhausted. I limit myself to 15 or 20 per year. Many wedding photographers do in excess of 50-75 per year but personally that is too much for me with a young family at the moment.
Why are you more affordable when compared to many other wedding photographers?
I actually haven’t been shooting weddings for very long (mostly families + travel) so for the time being my rate is incredibly reasonable! Many other photographers have been doing it for 5+ years and as I don’t have that sort of experience, I don’t feel it’s fair for me to charge the same amount.
Who owns the copyright of the photos
That remains with the photographer but you can print and use the images in any way you like. You just can’t use them for business and commercial purposes I’m afraid.
Can you provide RAW images
I’m afraid not. All images are delivered edited in a JPEG or printed format. These images will have been edited as per my editing style with very subtle adjustments and improvements. I do not do any major editing and changes unless requested separately and for an additional charge. I don’t really advocate this as my photography is authentic and a genuine capture of your day.
How do I book?
I just need a £200 deposit. Once you’re ready to go ahead, have read through my FAQs and T&Cs and then I will send you an invoice for the payment. As a general rule, final balances are due 60 days before the wedding itself. It’s all very simple.
Are you insured?
Yes, I am! Everything is insured when it comes to my business. Please let me know if you need more details as sometimes venues would like copies of insurance policies.
